Thurrock Services
Thurrock Services opened in 1990 after construction was delayed by concerns about methane buildup from former landfill underneath. Designed to offer suburban respite from the industrial M25 surroundings, it featured a lake created from a gravel pit. Initially called ‘the world’s most advanced’ service station, it later deteriorated significantly. Transport Focus ranked it worst in England in 2018 with only 68% satisfaction. Its location made it notorious for drug trafficking operations. Operated by Moto.
