Strensham Services
Strensham Services opened with the M5 in 1962, making it one of Britain’s oldest motorway service areas. Originally positioned too close to junction 8, the entire original setup was demolished during 1991 motorway improvements when a new northbound site was built one mile north. This made Strensham unique in having its own dedicated motorway lane. A street light from 1962 survives at the slip road, possibly Britain’s longest-unchanged motorway feature. Operated by Roadchef, it’s their busiest and most profitable site.
