Corley Services
Corley Services opened on 17 January 1972, described as Europe’s largest service area when it opened with capacity for 400 cars. Built at the centre of Britain’s motorway network where the M1 meets the M6, it attracted a £500,000 Forte investment. Liverpool football fans wrecked gaming machines in 1974, leading to all football coaches being banned from Motor Chef service areas. It became the first motorway service station with a permanent Police Community Support Officer in 2003 and first with Starbucks in 2006. Operated by Welcome Break.
