Chester Services

Chester Services opened on 29 July 1998, developed by Shell and Roadchef after planning delays that began in 1969 under the name Hapsford. The M56 originally opened with only a stub where services were planned. Cheshire County Council operated a temporary gravel parking area with toilets from 1978. A public inquiry in 1997 resolved competing proposals. Roadchef opened their first Pret A Manger here in December 2017, though it closed in 2020. The only M56 service area.
