Charnock Richard Services

Charnock Richard Services opened on 29 July 1963 as the first motorway service station on the M6 and third oldest in Britain after Watford Gap and Newport Pagnell. Designed by Terence Verity, it pioneered the bridge-restaurant concept with dining spanning the motorway. The motorway network’s first Little Chef opened here in 1982. In 2006, the bridge required structural reinforcement to prevent it falling onto the motorway. Located between junctions 27 and 28. Operated by Welcome Break.
