Newport Pagnell Services
Newport Pagnell Services holds the distinction of being one of Britain’s oldest motorway restaurants, opening in 1959 alongside the M1’s inaugural section. Originally operated by Forte, the services became the first Welcome Break site in 1988. The distinctive bridge-restaurant design, spanning the motorway, was revolutionary for its time and remains an architectural landmark. The services once featured a fine dining restaurant with silver service. Located between junctions 14 and 15, Newport Pagnell has evolved from its grand beginnings into a modern facility while retaining elements of its pioneering heritage in British motorway history.
