Tiverton Services
Tiverton Services was planned alongside Cullompton but never fully developed. Under planning policy, only one of the two nearby sites could be signed from the motorway. Cullompton received northbound signing in exchange for Tiverton getting southbound signing, but Tiverton’s project was never completed. This left an unusual situation where the M5 has one more signposted service area northbound than southbound, creating a quirk in the motorway network near junction 27.
